Terms of Service

Last updated August 21, 2026

These are the terms you accept by using Bona. We've tried to write them in plain English — the review-integrity promise below in particular is worth actually reading, since it's binding on you the moment you sign up.

1. Who we are

Bona is operated by GusTech Inc., based in Nova Scotia, Canada. "We", "us", and "our" mean GusTech Inc. "You" means the business using Bona to collect reviews. If you're a customer leaving a review rather than a business using Bona, see "If you're leaving a review" below — you're not the "you" in most of these terms. Reach us any time through our support portal.

2. Your account

You need an account to use Bona, created through our sign-in provider, and an email address that reaches you — it's how we send anything important about your subscription and verification status. Keep your credentials to yourself.

Your account belongs to a business. Anyone you invite as staff can see the same dashboard, connect or reconnect the Stripe verification key, and manage billing — you're responsible for what they do there. You must be old enough to enter a contract where you live.

3. What you may and may not do

Use Bona to collect and display reviews from your real, paying customers. Don't use it to:

  • submit invoice numbers you don't have the right to submit, or otherwise trigger review requests for people who weren't actually your customers
  • try to identify, contact, or pressure a reviewer based on anything Bona shows or sends you
  • try to game, script, or abuse the verification or review-request flow
  • attack, probe, or overload the service, or work around its rate limits
  • resell Bona or pass it off as your own product

We may suspend an account doing any of this, and we'll tell you why. For anything that threatens the service, other users, or reviewers, we may need to act first and explain afterwards.

4. Connecting Stripe for verification

To verify a review, Bona needs to check that the reviewer's invoice number is real and paid in your own Stripe account. You give us a Stripe restricted API key scoped to read-only access to your Customers, Subscriptions, Invoices, and Charges — nothing else. We use it only to look up the specific invoice a reviewer gives us; we never charge, refund, or modify anything in your Stripe account with it, and we never use it to browse your other data. You can revoke it in Stripe at any time, though review requests will stop working until you reconnect a valid key.

5. Review integrity

This is the deal that makes a Bona badge worth anything, and it's the one part of these terms that doesn't bend: once a review is verified and published, it stays published. You cannot ask us to remove, hide, or edit a review because you don't like what it says, and you cannot exclude any of your paying customers — including ones who've since canceled — from being eligible to leave one. There's no request, no appeal, and no plan tier that changes this. Signing up for Bona means accepting it, permanently, for every review your business receives through it — we won't remove a review as a courtesy to you, full stop.

The one thing that sits outside that promise is our own legal obligations, which apply to us the same as anyone: content that's genuinely illegal to host (for example, doxxing, or something a court has ordered taken down), or a review that turns out not to have come from a verified purchaser because of a bug or abuse of the system. Acting on either of those isn't "removing an unfavorable review" on a business's behalf — it's Bona following the law, and it's not something any business can request, negotiate, or benefit from.

6. If you're leaving a review

You don't need a Bona account to leave a review — a business gives you an invoice number, we verify it against their Stripe records, and email you a one-time link or code. By submitting a review you confirm it's your genuine experience, and you give Bona and the business permission to publish it, permanently, as described above. A review is attributed to a verified purchase, never to your name — see our Privacy Policy for what we actually keep.

7. Plans, billing, and refunds

Bona is $9 per year, billed in US dollars, with fixed pricing in some other currencies (currently EUR and CAD) shown at checkout; other currencies are converted automatically. Prices exclude tax; VAT, GST, or sales tax is added at checkout based on where you are. Every subscription starts with a 30-day free trial and then renews automatically each year until you cancel.

Payments run through Stripe — we never see or store your card number. Cancel any time from the billing portal in your dashboard: your existing profile page and every review you've already received stay published, but you won't be able to send new review requests once your subscription lapses.

We don't refund automatically for partial periods, but we're a small shop and we're reasonable — email us if something went wrong. If we change our prices we'll give you at least 30 days' notice by email, and the new price applies from your next renewal.

8. Availability

We work hard to keep Bona up, but we don't promise a particular uptime and there's no service level agreement on any plan. We'll take the service down for maintenance when we need to, and we'll keep it short.

9. Ending the agreement

You can stop using Bona at any time — email us to close your account. We can suspend or close an account that breaches these terms or hasn't paid, and we'll give you notice and a chance to fix it unless the breach is serious.

Closing your account stops billing and disconnects your verification key, but it does not remove your business's profile page or any review already published on it — that's the same permanence described in "Review integrity" above, and it doesn't end just because you stop paying. If you genuinely need a profile taken down entirely (for example, the business itself has closed), email us and we'll look at it case by case.

10. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms as Bona changes. For anything material we'll email account owners before it takes effect. Continuing to use Bona after that means you accept the new version. The date at the top always tells you when this page last changed.

11. Warranties and liability

Bona is provided as is. To the extent the law allows, we disclaim implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement, and we don't warrant that the service, or any review on it, will be uninterrupted, error-free, or free of reviewer mistakes.

To the extent the law allows, we're not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages, or for lost profits, revenue, or data — including harm you believe a published review caused you. Our total liability for any claim relating to Bona is limited to what you paid us in the 12 months before the claim arose. Nothing here limits liability that can't be limited by law, including consumer rights you have that can't be waived.

12. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the Province of Nova Scotia and the federal laws of Canada that apply there. Disputes go to the courts of Nova Scotia, though if you're a consumer you keep whatever rights your local law gives you to bring a claim closer to home.

13. Contact

Questions about these terms go through our support portal. A real person reads it.
